DUO ARTIS consists of Mgr. art. Denisa Kutmonová (flute) and Mgr. art. Jan Soukup (bassoon).

It was formed at the Janáček Conservatory in 2010 under the direction of Mgr. Eva Dostalova.

After many years of cooperation, we have staged works by composers from the Baroque period to the 21st century (J. S. Bach, G. F. Händel, H. Purcell, W. A. Mozart, J. Fiala, L. van Beethoven,            G. Bizet, F. Farkas, E. Bozza, P. Staněk and others).

We perform at various social events (openings, weddings, new building openings, educational concerts,
open-air concerts and concerts in sacred spaces).

DENISA KUTMONOVÁ (flute)

She comes from a musical family and started playing the flute at the age of seven at the V. Petrželka in Ostrava-Hrabůvka under the guidance of Mgr. B. Hurníková. Then she graduated in flute at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava under Mgr. E. Dostálová and MgA. M. Molinger. She went on to study at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Prof. J. Válek, where during her Bachelor’s programme she also completed a traineeship at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden under Prof. S. Réty. She completed her master’s studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under Prof. D. Zsapková. Denisa is a regular participant of international performance courses organized by the Music Faculty of the JAMU in Brno, Music Academy in Telč, and courses in Luxembourg under the guidance of many world flute players such as S. Réty, A. Garzuly, V. Prats, C. Jans, V. Kunt, etc. She has performed in several symphonic and wind ensembles, e.g.: the J. Myron National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, the Academic Chamber Soloists of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Moravian-Silesian Sinfonietta, the Symphony Orchestra of Frýdek-Místek, Májovák Karviná, etc. She has collaborated on educational concerts of the Prague FOK Orchestra. She is an active member of several chamber groups with which she performs throughout the Czech Republic – Duo with flute, guitar, accordion and bassoon. She also co-organizes chamber concerts in Polná, where she collaborates with pianists MgA. L. Coganova and MgA. M. Smutný. He performs in various scientific symposia and professional events in Křtiny, realized under the auspices of Mendel University in Brno. Currently he teaches flute at the P. J. Vejvanovský Music School in Hlučín.

JAN SOUKUP (bassoon)

In 2011 he graduated from the Janáček Conservatory and the Gymnasium in the bassoon class of Mgr. Evald Bartusek (former solo bassoonist of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava). During his studies at the conservatory he devoted himself to private studies in bassoon playing at the Paris Conservatory. In his fifth year he joined the Hradec Králové Philharmonic as a second bassoon assistant. During his sixth year at the Janáček Conservatory, he founded the Moravian-Silesian Sinfonietta Orchestral Academy, working with primary art school pupils, conservatory students and university students. In 2014 he graduated from the University of Ostrava – Faculty of Arts in the class of Doc. Mgr. Zdeněk Fintes (former solo bassoonist of the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava) and obtained the degree of BcA. At the turn of 2013/2014 he became a student of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels through the Erasmus programme under the guidance of Doc. Luc Loubry (former solo bassoonist of the Belgian National Orchestra). In 2014, he was accepted for a Master’s degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in the bassoon class of Doc. Roman Mešina (former solo bassoonist of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra) and graduated with a Master’s degree. During his studies he worked in the opera choir of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. He plays a professional model of the American Fox bassoon (b. 2016) and also a Heckel bassoon (b. 1904). He also plays a Mollenhauer contrabassoon. In 2022 he received an award from the Karviná City Council for outstanding achievements in the field of culture. In 2023, he received the Personality of Culture award from the City Council of Havířov. Since 2014 he has been teaching at the Bohusl Elementary School.
